Last week, we were represented at two universities: at the EPFL 2026 Forum in Lausanne and at the VMP Industry Talk at ETH Zurich. The focus was on the diverse career opportunities in the Swiss nuclear energy industry, as well as its history and future.
At the EPFL 2026 Forum in Lausanne, we introduced students to the many career opportunities in the Swiss nuclear energy industry. The event provided an opportunity for interesting discussions and direct interaction with future professionals.
The following day, we were guests at the VMP Industry Talk at ETH Zurich. There, we took the students on a journey through the history of nuclear energy in Switzerland. The focus was on the impact of international events on the Swiss nuclear energy industry, as well as its current situation—caught between the implementation of the Energy Strategy 2050 and the ongoing debate over lifting the ban on the construction of new nuclear power plants.
Supporting Young Talent Remains a Priority
The Swiss nuclear energy industry will continue to rely on well-trained specialists in the future—both for the safe, long-term operation and for the decommissioning of existing nuclear power plants. Regardless of political developments, it is crucial to preserve nuclear expertise in Switzerland over the long term and prevent a brain drain.
At both universities, we therefore took the opportunity to introduce students to our job platform, Nuclear Jobs. It provides an overview of the diverse career opportunities in the Swiss nuclear energy industry. Students and employees of our association members can also subscribe to NucNet’s independent international newsletter free of charge.
We were particularly pleased by the students’ keen interest, their many questions, and the engaging discussions. These underscore just how important direct interaction with the next generation of professionals is.
