The Gösgen nuclear power plant (KKG) between Olten and Aarau is a key component of the energy supply in the northern Mittelland region. With around 600 employees, the KKG generates around 8 billion kWh of electricity annually, covering around 13% of Switzerland's demand.
As the first Swiss nuclear power plant in the 1000 megawatt class, in operation since 1979, it has increased safety through ongoing modernization projects. Investments ensure a service life extension to 60 years and improve economic efficiency.
With an unlimited operating license, KKG produces sustainably. Net electricity production increased by almost 17%, while the costs per kWh fell from 6.3 centimes (1980) to 4.3 centimes (2021) - including funds for decommissioning and disposal. Discover career opportunities at KKG.
