WANO unites all companies and countries in the world in which nuclear power plants are operated commercially. The aim of the organization is to maximize reliability and achieve the highest standards in the operational safety of nuclear power plants. Swissnuclear represents the Swiss nuclear energy industry in WANO.
The NEA is an organization based near Paris and is part of the OECD. It promotes intergovernmental cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. Swissnuclear supports its work, for example by providing country-specific data that is used for the preparation of expert reports.
The Association of the European Electricity Industry has members from 32 countries. As a member and on behalf of the Association of Swiss Electricity Companies (VSE), swissnuclear represents Swiss electricity companies in the "Thermal and Nuclear" working group.
The IAEA is the most important independent intergovernmental organization for the promotion of safety in the nuclear energy sector and is contractually linked to the United Nations (UN). In consultation with the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE), swissnuclear employees take part in selected IAEA events, where they exchange views with representatives of other countries and organizations.
The WNA is a non-governmental organization with over 100 members from the nuclear energy industry worldwide. The WNA offers a wide range of training and research programs under the umbrella of the WNU (World Nuclear University). These include the five-week "Summer Institute". Swissnuclear is a member of the WNA and cooperates with the WNU.
NucNet is a Brussels-based international news agency specializing in nuclear energy issues. Swissnuclear is a member of NucNet and represents the Swiss nuclear energy industry on its committees.
ENISS is the European Initiative for Safety Standards for Nuclear Installations, which was founded in 2005. Swissnuclear represents Swiss nuclear power plant operators in ENISS, exchanges views with other members on international safety standards and regulatory measures and comments on the further development of international regulations by WENRA (Western European Nuclear Regulators' Association) and the IAEA.
Nucleareurope, formerly Foratom (European Atomic Forum), is the Brussels-based trade association of the European nuclear energy industry. The organization consists of a total of 15 national associations and represents its members vis-à-vis the EU institutions. Swissnuclear participates in various nucleareurope working groups to ensure and promote exchange with European partners.
